Characters Name: Aichi Sendou
Age: 15
Canon: Cardfight!! Vanguard
Canon Point: Post Season 2, before Season 3
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Underage, but very likely leaning towards homosexual. My reasons for assuming that is not just because the show's cast is primarily male; but because, for Aichi, he is incredibly focused on gaining the acknowledgement of Kai Toshiki. It borders on a crush to the point that, in an early episode of season 1, when Aichi was disappointed by Kai's absence in the local card shop, another character described him as 'looking like he had been stood up by his girlfriend'. (Reference: Episode 4)
History: http://cardfight.wikia.com/wiki/Aichi_Sendou
Appearance: Season 2 outfit, how straight is this?, crazy mode
Aichi is on the short side, with an average, if slightly skinny, frame. Still in his early teens, he looks rather young; he could likely pass for male or female easily. His soft voice, polite form of speech, and shy, timid demeanor would only help that 'issue'.
His hair is a deep blue, with his eyes being a similar, if more greenish, shade. His skin color is white, fairly pale. Aichi's hair is shoulder-length, semi-messy, topped with a signature 'ahoge' sticking up from the top of his head.
Personality:
Coming from a childhood of loneliness, subjected to rough bullying, Aichi is withdrawn and quite shy. However, due to meeting Kai and being given the card Blaster Blade, he had the catalyst to change... though, it lay dormant for several years, until events while he was in middle school. There, he was still quiet and introverted, someone his classmates laughed at; but when someone stole that precious, rare card from him, he stood up to the challenge of getting it back, refusing to give that up.
Underneath his timid outer shell, he is actually strong. His way of becoming confident, of becoming strong, was mainly through playing the card game Vanguard. He stood up to his classmates, even though they beat him up; he followed them all the way to the local hobby shop, and mustered the courage to challenge Kai, despite never playing Vanguard before. That first spark of courage led to more; he began to play often, and his dismal, lonely daily life slowly changed, becoming brighter. It was enough change in his manner that his sister noticed, even!
As he gained confidence, he was no longer so shy and awkward around people; he can speak normally, without stuttering, among his friends. He doesn't really stutter or show nervousness around strangers, either, unless they are particularly aggressive or rude.
He is polite in how he speaks, respectful to everyone; about the only person he doesn't use some form of honorific for is his sister, Emi.
As polite as he may be, however, he has shown a rather strong sarcastic side when he was corrupted by his Psyqualia. While effected by that power, he was almost rude... without abandoning his polite speaking patterns. Harsh to his friends, unforgiving losses, and ruthless in his playstyle, Aichi was fueled by desperation to becoming stronger, stronger... the strongest. This part of him is just as valid as his shy, kind side; his season 1 development culminated in understanding and accepting his whole self, dark and light.
Overall, while somewhat introverted still, he is no pushover. He can and will stand up for himself and his friends, no matter what he faces.
Abilities:
Psyqualia. As the word implies, it is a form of psychic power; but it's not so simple as the usual examples. Or, rather, it is too simple: more or less, it's a mental connection to the planet Cray(where the Vanguard units live), that allows the player to predict the flow of the game... and thus achieve victory. However, it's also a corruptive power, as those who have the gift tend to end up power-crazed and lose the purer sides of their personality. (Aichi, Ren, Chris and Leon all show signs of this, to varying degrees.) It's also not an ability that ensures winning, as Ren in season 2 commented; of course, two Psyqualia users fighting would be hard to predict, but even against normal, if strong, players their ability may not help.
Besides that usage, Psyqualia users can force their imagined scenery onto others, whether within a match or not. The more common usage of such was when they win, providing their opponent with an experience of being really attacked by the card unit... but it has been used once for intimidation outside a match, though not by Aichi.
There is one instance of using it as a mental connection to speak to another user far away in season 1, but this has not been done since. (And they were both holding the same card unit, so that may have been the reason such was possible.)
This ability has little use outside of Vanguard matches. Furthermore, it is not an extremely reliable ability, only present in the chosen users when Cray is facing a crisis, using those on Earth as representations/substitutes for specific clans.
So, most of the time, Aichi is just a normal teenager.
Other:
His birthday is 6/6, making him a Gemini.
SAMPLES
First Person:
[He feels like he's been through a lot--and he has. The national tournament, and then the Asian Circuit; what started off unassuming and normal had, both times, turned complex. But, he supposes that in retrospect, he's learned and grown because of these experiences.
And that growth led him to make a particular decision, wishing to face a past issue. He was soon to graduate middle school, and his choice for high school was Miyaji Academy.]
Eh--? Emi, I'm serious...
[Unlike his mother, who was passive(or supportive? Who can tell...) about this, his younger sister reacted with concerned almost-anger. Emi was somewhat protective of him still, a habit formed due to how unreliable Aichi had been until around two years ago.
As for why she was concerned, Miyaji was a school that he had attended before, when he was much younger. The kind of bullying he had been subjected to was harsh enough that he had to transfer to a public school...
But that is exactly why he is making this choice now! He is no longer the kind of boy who would simply take abuse, and in facing that 'trauma', he intends to become an even better person.]
Don't worry so much, Emi. Misaki-san's in the High school section, too.
[ Faced with that determination, one that Aichi of years before certainly couldn't muster, his sister had to accept it.]
Third Person:
He had been angry. Aichi didn't understand, didn't want to understand; all he could think about was the fact that he had to watch Kai disappear in front of him... and that this person was responsible.
Disregarding the other's predictions, playing as best as he could, it wasn't enough--! His will wavered, his strength fading; he found himself collapsing, falling to his knees, as he struggled to stay conscious. Even his vision was blurry and indistinct...
But a light, a voice, pierced through the haze that was befalling his mind. A new hope, a path to victory... a familiar, comforting sight in a somewhat new form.
When everything was over, the darkness purged both from that person and the other planet, the sealed clans free once more, Aichi felt like he could almost cry from relief. Instead, he smiled, even as he began to collapse again.
"I'm glad..."
Weak from using so much of that power, he felt someone catch him, a concerned call of his name in a deep voice. 'It's not Kai-kun's voice, though...' He thinks to himself.
